Rank is players over the last seven days. A big server showing offline while the rest are up is that server restarting or wiping, not Rust being down.
What this page is telling you
Every five minutes we read the full public Rust server list and count how many servers are online and how many players are on them. This hour has a usual shape, and we compare today's reading against it.
The verdict is simple. The servers are up if the count sits close to normal for this hour. The count is low or falling if it sits well below. We never guess past the last reading; if the reading is old, this page says so.
If your game shows no servers
When the verdict says servers are up but your browser is empty, the gap is on your side of Steam:
- Restart Steam, then Rust. The in-game list comes from Steam, and a stale login can show nothing at all.
- Clear your server browser filters. A region or tag you set weeks ago can hide the whole list.
- Check Steam's status. When Steam's list is out, every game's browser empties, and this page usually shows a drop too.
- On force wipe day, update Rust first. Servers restart one by one, and your game must be on the new build.
- Try without a VPN. A VPN, strict firewall or workplace network can block the traffic the browser uses.
If only one server is missing, that server is restarting, wiping or down. Its page shows when it was last seen. You can browse everything on the Rust server list and see the wider pattern on players online.

The verdict at the top of this page is live. We read the full server list every five minutes and compare the count with what is normal for this hour; 11,806 servers are online as this page loads. Near the usual number means servers are up, and well below half means an outage.
Why does Rust show no servers when this page says they are up?
Then the problem is between you and Steam, not with Rust itself. Restart Steam and Rust, clear your browser filters, check whether Steam is down, and on force wipe day update the game before trying again. The steps above cover each one in order.
How often is the Rust server status updated?
The list is read every five minutes, and the time under the verdict shows when it was last read. If the most recent reading is more than twenty-five minutes old, the page says it is behind rather than pretending to be current. Each server's own page shows when that server was last seen.
